Founder of Mattr Launches First Dating App for People with Autism and ADHD in London

Jamie Johnston, the founder of Mattr, has launched the first dating app specifically designed for individuals with autism and ADHD in London. The app aims to tackle stigma within the neurodivergent community and provide a safe space for individuals to connect and form meaningful relationships.

After being diagnosed with ADHD during the Covid-19 pandemic, Johnston saw a need for a dating platform that catered to the unique needs of neurodivergent individuals. With over 1,000 users in the capital, Mattr is quickly gaining popularity and has plans to expand across the UK.

The app features various inclusive elements such as the option to reply via video for those who struggle with typing and voice-activated text reading. Users are limited to seven potential connections a day, ensuring a more manageable and personalized experience.

According to data from the Neurodiversity Foundation, only 9% of autistic adults are married, and just 32% have a romantic partner. Johnston hopes that Mattr will help bridge this gap and provide a platform for individuals to connect authentically without fear of judgment.

“People with autism and ADHD often face challenges on traditional dating apps, leading to feelings of overwhelm and frustration,” Johnston explained. “Mattr aims to create a space where users can be their true selves and connect with others who understand and appreciate them.”

Mattr is now available for download on the App Store and Google Play, offering a much-needed solution for neurodivergent individuals seeking meaningful connections in the digital age.
